When I saw that the Fly Fishing Film festival was going to bypass our town, I thought I'd see what I could do the get them to do to add us to the schedule. After much running around chasing venues, it has been confirmed that the Fly Fishing Film Festival is coming to Canberra. sweeeet. Films that will be showing are "The Hatch" and "Trout Bum Diaries". Haven't heard about the former, but the latter seems like an absolute blast. Just check out the The Teaser to see what I mean. If you are based in the ACT, or surrounding districts, come along and show some support. If we can make it worth while, these guys might add us to the starting line-up for the next round of films.
For more information check out the Oceania Productions website.
Canberra Session Details:
Where: AIS Theatrette, Bruce, ACT (AIS Map – location 11)
When: Wednesday, April 19, 7:30pm

There will be DVDs available for purchase at the show, and apparently there are plenty of sponsor give-aways to keep us punters happy.
See you there …

My brother stumbled across the Fly Fish Radio site a little while ago. This is an Internet radio station run by Wylie Thomas (a fellow geek) and George Overton (graphic designer) from Utah. The podcast has a university radio station feel about it, which I personally find appealing. I have an aversion to popular media as a general rule, and find the relatively relaxed nature of this production refreshing.
The content comprises of stream reports (for the Utah/Oregan region), interviews with personalities including Norm Albiston (fly fishing and fly tying instructor at University of Utah), Glenn Bracket (split cane rod building guru), Jack Dennis (fly tying deity) and Lance Egan (US fly fishing team) as well as fly of the week
Despite being based in the North, it makes good listening. The technique tips are applicable globally, and I thoroughly enjoyed the interview with Glenn Bracket . All in all it is a nice way to break up the day in the office, and well worth a look.
